The Mitsubishi Heavy AR-058 is an explosion-safe split air conditioner based on the Mitsubishi Heavy indoor and outdoor units. It provides safe and reliable climate control in Zone 2 hazardous areas that must be explosion proof, where gases, vapors, or mists may occasionally create an explosive atmosphere.
The AR-058 is certified under ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX114), is CE marked, and designed for use in industrial areas classified as Zone 2.
Common use cases
The Mitsubishi Heavy AR-058 is commonly used in offshore accommodations and temporary living quarters, control rooms, crane cabins, storage rooms for flammable substances, and a wide range of technical and industrial spaces that must be explosion proof.
Installation & configuration
Depending on the required cooling capacity and room layout, the Mitsubishi Heavy AR-058 can be supplied with a range of indoor unit types:
- Wall-mounted units
- Ceiling-mounted units
- Cassette units
- Ducted units
The system can also be configured as a hybrid setup, combining explosion-safe and standard non-explosion-safe components. All explosion-safe conversions are performed with great care, while the original Mitsubishi Heavy functionality remains fully intact. The installation and maintenance requirements remain unchanged after the conversion.
Corrosion resistance
When the Mitsubishi Heavy AR-058 is used in harsh or coastal conditions, the condenser’s aluminum fins and copper tubing can be treated with a protective anti-corrosion coating to improve durability and extend operational life.
